Buxton and Peak Forest appointment

D B Shenker driver, Ian Jordan, has taken on the role of Depot Introducer at both Buxton and Peak Forest.

Society’s Chairman retires

Grahame Nash, who has served as the Society’s Chaiman since May 1998, retired from the Management Committee following the Annual General Meeting in June. 

Grahame was first appointed to the Committee in 1986, when he was Depot Secretary at Bristol, and has had a long and active association with the Society and its members.  Throughout his time with the Enginemen’s he has witnessed dramatic changes in the regulatory structure of financial services and has helped steer the Society through the many challenges it has encountered.  The Management Committee is grateful for the effort, enthusiasm and commitment Grahame has put into his roles with the Society over these many years.

Grahame is succeeded by Joe Goolamier, who was appointed as Society Chairman on 24th June 2013.

2013 Annual General Meeting update

New Finance Manager appointment

Lynsey Inglis has been appointed as the Society’s Finance Manager. 

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Lynsey graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with an honours degree in Finance and joined us in July 2012 from our Internal Auditors.  She has worked closely with Jon Cox, our previous Finance Manager, in the lead up to his retirement and is now responsible for all financial matters.

We are delighted to have Lynsey join the team and feel confident that she will make a significant contribution to the Society.

Joe McGilvray

It is with great sadness that we report that Joe McGilvray passed away on 25th May 2013. 

Joe, who was only 54, had served on the Committee since 1988 and was an avid supporter of the Society and its values.  He had been our Depot Introducer at Glasgow for many years and only recently had taken on the role at Yoker.  He was a stalwart within ASLEF, having served at national level on the Executive Committee from 2001 to 2004.

It was planned that Joe would be appointed as Chairman of the Society following the Annual General Meeting in June and he was looking forward to this new challenge.

Joe’s debating skills will be greatly missed, as will his dry sense of humour.  This is a tragic loss to his family and friends and is a great loss to the Society.

New Management Committee member

Lee Davies was co-opted onto the Management Committee on 22nd April 2013.  Lee is a driver with Cross Country operating out of Newcastle.  Qualified to the Chartered Insurance Institute FPC 1 level, he has also served as a school governor. 

Lee’s association with the Society stretches back to May 1994 when he was first appointed as Depot Introducer at Tyne Yard.

In accordance with the Society’s Rules, Lee will be put forward for election by the members at the Annual General Meeting to be held in June 2013.
